There are also a few features (like ribbon customization) available only to 365 subscribers, though Microsoft doesn’t list what they are they just call them “Premium,” as opposed to “Classic.” (Thanks, Microsoft!) The one-time purchase also gets monthly updates until three years after its original release date, and then two years of security updates and bug fixes (but no new features) after that. In recent history, since 2015 or so, rather than waiting for a single great big new version every few years, Office now receives an update every month, and these updates bring both new features and bug fixes. If updating does not resolve the issue, or if you are running into the MathType or BER issues, you can try Office 2011, which also available in the Managed Software Center. The Office 2016 applications are listed individually on the main screen you can update one or all of the applications from here by clicking the "Update" button below the corresponding application. This can be done on a Thayer Computing supplioed computer by closing all Office 2016 applications and opening the Managed Software Center in the Applications folder. If you are experiencing random crashes or instability, the best thing to do is update Office. Unfortunately, Office can't update without being closed, and for many people, Office is rarely closed. Most of the 'general instability' issues have been fixed in later updates.
